The last thing I need is the pressure and disappointment of New Year’s resolutions I will 100% abandon after a few days. I have ADHD, it’s not going to happen.
However, what I do like is a list of ideas for things to do or track or aim at. Will I read the 20 books I’ve set myself? Maybe. What if I end up having read 15 books by December? That’s 15 books! Yay Kay!
Some of the things on my list are a little too personal to put online, but I can do a reduced list:
- Get stacked lobe piercing redone
- Get back into journaling (or blogging, I guess)
- Tidy and clean car
- Meet the girlfriend ❤
- At least 1 public speaking opportunity
- Read 20 books
- Get dental insurance
- Tidy and deep clean apartment
- Take art classes
- Use balance board to stabilise joints (hypermobility.. whoop)
- See a musical
- Reduce antidepressants
- Get foot tattoo covered
- Play a concert with my choir
- Go to the beach
- Do karaoke
- Get Freddie Mercury tattoo
- Go to planetarium with Mum
- Write a short story
Some of those are bigger projects, some depend on other things, some are just fun stuff. And, admittedly, some are already in my calendar, so I know they’ll happen.
Thing is – life is both way too serious and not as serious as it often seems. So it’s even more important to keep a good balance between the things we have to deal with, whether we want to or not, and the things that make life worth living.
